In 2022, Kent was perfectly clear about his distaste for Jaime Herrera Beutler and the need to defeat her. Kent even went so far as to say that if Herrera Beutler was the nominee, he would BREAK the Republican Party.
Joe Kent revealed that he would not support Jaime Herrera Beutler, saying that he would “not vote for that Democrat” and that he would instead mount a write-in campaign as a way to “break” the Republican Party. Joe Kent showed us exactly who he was in 2022 – someone who when he does not get his way, throws a tantrum and threatens Republican voters. It is his way or the highway.
As Joe Kent tries to reinvent himself, members of the media covering the race for Washington’s Third Congressional Race need to ask: What has Joe Kent done to show that he can be trusted?

“Look, we’ve got to unify,” and “So I have no desire to get into a back and forth with another Republican. Republicans need to unify if we want to win.”
“[Herrera Beutler] is a strong Republican candidate for this job and I will do whatever I can to help her win.”
